There's also a pause button if you need to pause what you're listening to.Īs far as sound, I can't tell a difference between this dock and what I had previously once you turn the 3D sound setting off. I can skip a track without having to access the phone. This is a really cool feature that gives you a lot more control than iHome's older socks and is very, VERY welcome. If you play music, YouTube, or Pandora you can hit either the + to move forward a track and the - key to move backwards. Probably my favorite feature of the dock are the + and - keys on the right side of the dock. The display is bright, easy to read, and has six brightness settings so you the light from the clock won't keep you up at night. When you plug your phone or iPad in the clock automatically syncs to the time on your phone so you don't have to worry about setting it.
#LIGHTNING DOCK CLOCK UPGRADE#
The clock is a big upgrade from the older models. It's a pretty good design and I'm surprised they hadn't come up with this solution previously. They seem to have a pretty strong spring in there and I don't worry that my iPad or iPhone will tip over. The flexibility of the Lightning plug hinge is a great design and isn't flimsy. The Lightning cable attachment isn't stationary, instead it's on a spring loaded hinge and moves back and forth to accommodate cases. This is removable if you use the dock with a case. The other piece is a thin strip of rubber that the phone or iPad sits on. The first is there's a thin plastic stand that your phone will lean against when it's on the dock to keep it from tipping over (your phone or iPad will dock at a bit of an angle). It won't fit something huge like a Life Proof case or an otter box case but smaller cases like an incipio, speck or Magpul case work with this dock.

I figured I would try it considering the selling point was that my phone would fit on the dock even with a case. Now that I've moved I wanted less cords around my bed side table and found this dock. So I would use the line in cord if I wanted to listen to music in bed and charge the phone with a seperate cable. Every new dock that came out that had the lightning cable would not hold my phone because I keep a Magpul Bump case on it. I never upgraded my old dock even though I would upgrade my phone. I've had one of iHome's iPhone/iPod clock docks since they came out and I've always been a big fan.
